In June I went on holiday to La Réunion, and because I wanted to see the entire island, I needed a place to stay in the south of the island. This way, I could use that hotel as a starting point to explore the entire southern part of La Réunion! I found my paradise within paradise at Villa Delisle in Saint-Pierre, the largest town in the southern part of La Réunion. I must say I really enjoyed this intimate hotel with modern facilities and Creole interiors. Read along to find out why.

Villa Delisle is located in Saint-Pierre, the largest town in the southern part of Ile de la Réunion. The hotel is perfectly located. Villa Delisle is located on Boulevard Hubert Delisle, named after a French politician born in La Réunion, and this is an area with a big selection of nice local restaurants, like Le Caraco for example.

Check-in was nice and easy. During the process we could have a seat and enjoy a fresh welcome drink. The hotel personnel is very friendly and welcoming, and they are both fluent in French and English. I find it really important that the employees immediately make you feel at home. Reception staff is always willing to help when you need advice on what to do in the area. They can also give advice on the best restaurants around town.

Junior Suite

I stayed in the Junior Suite, which are actually the largest suites available in Villa Delisle. They are 44 square meters in size, separated into a living room area with sofas and writing desk, and a sleeping area including full-size bed. The Junior Suite is made for couples, the bathroom is in the same space as the bed, but is very modern, with a huge walk-in shower and standalone bath in the middle of the space. I thought this was really cool!

Villa Delisle has its own private parking, and in case this one is full, then there is still a big free parking lot adjacent to the hotel. The hotel also has its own swimming pool with pool bar. Right across the street is the main beach of Saint-Pierre. Our particular suite was decorated in warm colors creating a cozy post-colonial atmosphere and had a huge balcony overlooking the garden and the beach. Other junior suites are located near the pool.

Dining options

Breakfast is outside at the terrace of the swimming pool, which I thought was a nice touch. During weekends, there is a DJ playing music during the evenings on this terrace. The hotel has a more upscale restaurant called Le Pierre, serving French cuisine and fine wines.

I really enjoyed my stay at Villa Delisle Hotel & Spa, it is a real tropical jewel. I can’t really choose what was my favorite thing to do in this hotel. Spending time at the sun-soaked pool, enjoying a few cocktails during happy hour at Bar Le Planteur or just spend time at the balcony of my suite. Villa Delisle is a small, intimate hotel with local vibes and that’s why I would choose this hotel over any hotel chain on the island. 10/10 would recommend!
